Sit down for this one - it's not a complaint. LOL I went with Lydia to Massie School today for a field trip. It's the oldest Elementary School in Georgia (non-functioning). It was so cool! It's right downtown Savannah, off of Calhoun Square. It was like a page out of Little House - two seaters, boys on one side, girls on the other. Really, really cool. We learned about how Oglethorpe planned Savannah, too. Each square (like Calhoun, or Chippewa - where Forrest Gump was filmed) centers an area. There are four public buildings, two on each side (East and West) and then four houses on each side (North and South). Each residential building housed 5 families. Of course things are different now - many businesses occupy residential buildings and vice versa. I might just have to go exploring Savannah some more. Lifted my spirits. :)
